Rs5bln Corruption Case: SHC Extends Bail of Sharjeel Memon

Karachi (August 16, 2017): The Sindh High Court (SHC) has extended the interim bail of former provincial minister Sharjeel Inam Memon and others in five billion corruption charges

On the request of Sharjeel Inam Memon counsel, SHC extended the interim bail of the former provincial minister of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and other accused in five billion rupees scam in Sindh Information Department.The high court also ordered counsel of another accused to assure presence of Inaam Akbar during next hearing.

Earlier on July 05, The interim bail of former Information Minister Sindh and other accused including Zulfiqar Shilwani and Yusuf Kaburu in Rs 5 billion corruption in provincial Information Department was extended Bail till August 16 due to absence of lawyer Amir Raza Naqvi and Shahab Sarki, Abbtakk News reported.It is to be mentioned here that Sharjeel Memon and others accused were charged in the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) reference of misusing power, authority and embezzlement, while distributing government advertisements amounting over Rs5billion.

Information Department officials including Zulfiqar Ali Shalwani, Mansoor Ahmed and others are co-accused in the Rs5 billion corruption case.

On March 19, Sharjeel was arrested and later released by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials at Islamabad airport. The former Sindh information minister is facing several charges of monetary misappropriation and corruption.
