SHC Grant Pre-Arrest Bails To Zardari, Faryal

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday has granted pre-arrest bail to the former president Asif Ali Zardari and Faryal Talpur.

The court has granted the bails on surety bonds of worth Rs 1 million each and ordered them to reappear after 10 days.

Asif Zardari and his sister have filed a petition seeking an interim bail as they are under probe in connection to Fake Accounts and Mega Money Laundering cases.

Earlier today, SHC has refused the former president Asif Ali Zardari’s pleas seeking to grant him a stay order over the banking court’s verdict to transfer the ongoing probe of Fake Bank Accounts and Money Laundering cases to Islamabad.

As per details, SHC heard the case pertaining to the petitions filed by the former president and others.

The hearing was attended by the lawyers of the petitioners.

Former president’s counsel Farooq H. Naek in his remarks said that this case did not lie within the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) jurisdiction as it was underway in the banking court and then it was referred to the NAB court. The court should seek a detailed report into this matter as the Supreme Court (SC) hasn’t ordered to transfer the case in any of its verdicts.

It wasn’t mentioned in the FIR that it is a corruption reference and should be transferred to the accountability watchdog, he added.

To this, the court in its remarks questioned that if you think that it was an unjustified decision then why don’t you file a petition in the SC.

The court then rejected the request of Zardari’s counsel of seeking a detailed report into this matter.

The court will resume its hearing on March 26.

It is pertinent to mention here that the former president, Faryal Talpur, Anwar Majeed and others wants to proceed the case in Karachi.

The banking court on NAB’s plea transferred the case to Islamabad.
