KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday approved pre-arrest bail plea of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Miftah Ismail, barring Anti-graft body to arrest him for seven days in LNG corruption case.

The PML-N stalwart had filed a protective bail plea a day later NAB had raided his residence to apprehend him.

In his plea, Miftah stated that he was ready to face National Accountability Bureau (NAB) inquiries but feared that the Anti-graft body’s actions are based on “dishonesty”, therefore, he should be granted pre-arrest bail to avoid getting arrested.

The court, granting bail for seven days, ordered former finance minister to furnish bail bond of Rs0.5 million.

A special team of the NAB on Thursday raided former finance minister Miftah Ismail’s home to arrest him in LNB scandal but the team did not find him at his residence.

The raid took place after chairman NAB Justice (r) Javed Iqbal signed arrest warrant of the PML-N leader.

The NAB team had reached Miftah’s apartment after tracing his location through the cell phone.
