Karachi: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday issued contempt of court notices to Sindh government and the election commission of Pakistan (ECP) over not holding local bodies elections.
The SHC ordered the ECP to write new letter to the ECP while the petitioner Mahmood Akhtar Naqvi opined that local body elections are being stopped under the pretext of delimitation.
The petitioner said that the Sindh government wanted to eat up local bodies yearly budget of 78 billion rupees adding that the results of census not issue yet.
The court had ordered in February but it was not implemented yet, the petitioner added.
A representatives of statistics department informed the court that the government has made a committee under its recommendation the census result will be decided soon.

The court while asking response from the respective officials adjourned the hearing till December 15.
