SHC orders Sindh govt not to appoint non-elected persons as advisors

KARACHI: Sindh High Court on Tuesday ordered the provincial government not to appoint non-elected person as Advisor to Chief Minister.

The court also sought details of salary and other perks and privilege of advisors.

The SHC heard a petition against appointment of non-elected persons as Advisor to Chief Minister.

Advocate General Sindh submitted notification regarding removal of advisors. He apprised the court that Advisor to CM on Law Barrister Murtaza Wahab had already been removed while three other advisors Saeed Ghani, Maula Bux Chandio and Asghar Junejo tendered their resignations.

He further told the court that departments had been taken back from the Special Assistants. At this point, the court inquired from AG as to why the government de-notify special assistants to the chief minister as the court had only asked for removal of advisor.

On this, the AG took the plea that the government had decided to de-notify Special Assistants too.

The court ordered the government to submit details of perks and privilege of the advisor within one day.
