SHC stays expulsion of Pak-Turk Schools’ teachers

KARACHI: Sindh High Court on Friday stayed the expulsion of Pak-Turk Schools’ teachers on a petition filed by students and teachers of the school against the government’s decision to deport the Turkish teachers.

The court suspended the Interior Ministry’s order to Pak-Turk School teachers to leave the country.

The petitioners, 28 students and teachers of the schools, took the plea that the deportation order would hurt the interests of 11 thousands students of the schools.

The petitioners’ counsel Abdul Hameed Khoso argued that Pak-Turk Foundation was a non-profit non-government organisation which had nothing to do with the politics of Pakistan or Turkey.

He added that the Turkish teachers had applied for extension in their visa, but the government instead of granting extension, ordered the staff to leave the country.

He added that Pak-Turk School provide inexpensive but quality education and the decision to deport the teachers would harm the future of the students of the schools.

The court while directing Deputy Attorney General and Interior Ministry to file reply on the petition adjourned further hearing till December 13, 2016.
