The Sindh High Court on Saturday suspended the order to seal Aisha Bawani Government College and issued directives to reopen it at once.

The SHC while suspending the lower court order issued notices to respondents for September 23, 2017.

The provincial government submitted that federal government had allotted land for Aisha Bawani School when Karachi was the federal capital. During Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s reign, Aisha Bawani School was nationalized. The college building and land is the property of Sindh government not Aisha Bawani Trust.

The college had been sealed as per the court’s order on Friday, which had sent shock waves across students of the educational institute.

The decision was taken by the local court a day earlier after it was found that rent amounting to Rs 8500,000 had not been paid.

The decision by the city court had cast a shadow over the future of hundreds of students who are currently admitted in the college.

Despite the stay order by Sindh High Court, workers of Aisha Bawani Trust ransacked properties inside the college and threatened the college teachers and staff.

Education Department officials also rushed to the college and police was called in to control the vandals.
