Shehbaz Sharif Appears Before NAB Lahore Chapter

Lahore (August 20, 2018): Former Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif has appeared before the Anti-graft body in cases of Ashiana-e-Iqbal Housing scheme, Punjab Power Development Company (PPDC) and clean water.

According to reports, the PML-N president was ordered to appear before the accountability bureau today for the hearing of Ashiana housing scandal as well as the power company case.Earlier on July 16, the former Chief Minister and chief of PML-N Shehbaz Sharif did not come up to appear before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in Punjab Power Development company case.

The NAB summoned Shehbaz Sharif to appear before it in allegation of large-scale irregularities in Punjab Power Development company project as other accused are also being called in the same case. Shehbaz Sharif was summoned second time in the case.

According to NAB, Shehbaz Sharif was summoned to record his statement to NABs’ joint investigation team over the illegal and against the procedure appointment of Punjab Power Development company CEO and irregularities in contracts of the company.

Earlier on July 04, former Chief Minister of Punjab (CM) Shehbaz Sharif appeared in National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in Saaf Pani Company scandal.

During the hearing, the president of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was asked questions related to the scandal for two and a half hours at NAB Lahore office.

On June 26, NAB arrested Engineer Qamarul Islam Raja – former chairman of Saaf Pani Company and PML-N’s ticket holder from NA-59 Rawalpindi-III – for his alleged role in awarding contracts to ‘favourites’.PML-N NA Candidate Qamarul Islam Arrested in Saaf Pani CaseNAB officials also apprehended former CEO of the company, Wasim Ajmal, who is accused of making changes to the company’s documents after project bidding in violation of the rules.

The Punjab government had established Saaf Pani Company to conceive, plan, design, execute and manage projects for the provision of safe drinking water, in terms of both access and quality, to the communities living in unserved and underserved areas i.e. rural and peri-urban areas of the province.
