Shikarpur: Armed Clash Intensifies, Death Toll Rises to 12

Shikarpur (July 3, 2017): The armed clash between the two groups of Jatoi tribe that started earlier today has now taken the lives of 12 people including an eight-year-old girl and has left 15 others including children wounded.

According to the details, at least 12 people were killed and 15 injured when a clash between two groups turned violent in the city of Khanpur in Shikarpur District on Monday.

An eight-year-old girl was among those killed during the exchange of fire between two groups belonging to the Jatoi clan, namely Bhatani and Saad Khanani.

At least 12 people, including a minor girl, were killed when two rival groups attacked each other with rocket launchers and automatic weapons in Shikarpur on Monday.

The incident occurred in Katcha area of Shikarpur district’s Khanpur town over an ongoing dispute early on Monday. The clashes took place between Saad Khanani Jatoi and Badani Jatoi groups, ending in a dozen casualties and wounding many others including women and children.

The area presented the view of a battlefield as both parties freely used automatic weapons and rocket launchers while police failed to even enter the area.

The enmity between the two groups supposedly began when two persons belonging to Saad Khanani Jatoi’s group were killed in a police shootout and afflicted clan accused the Badani Jatoi group of sharing information with the police.

Police were unable to reach the site of the incident on time due to its extremely remote location and lack of direct routes leading to the area.Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah has taken notice of the deadly clash in the limits of Faizu Bangla police station, Shikarpur. The chief minister has called a report from DIG Police Larkana. Where was the police at the time when with so many lives were lost and so much damage was done, he asked.

Meanwhile, two persons were killed and two more were injured during from firing during clash between two groups in Makhtir in district Loralai of Balochistan province.
