Siddiqui To Resume Office As Ambassador To US On May 29

Islamabad (May 25, 2019): Ali Jahangir Siddiqui, ambassador-designate to the United States, will leave for Washington on May 28 to replace Aizaz Chaudhry.

According to the details, Ali Jahangir Siddiqui will arrive in the United States on May 29 and will resume his office on the same day.

Sources said that Ali Jahangir Siddiqui has got his new diplomatic passport. The foreign office has informed the Pakistani embassy in Washington about the replacement.

Aizaz Chaudhry will hand over the charge to Ali Jahangir Siddiqui on May 29.   Earlier on May 08, the State Department formally submitted the agreement paving the way for the appointment of Ali Jahangir Siddiqui who was nominated by the prime minister in March.

Siddiqui can officially be regarded as ambassador-designate after the official approval from the State Department.

He’s expected to present his credentials to the White House after his arrival. However, he might be facing serious challenges since the US would impose travel restrictions on Pakistani diplomats working at the embassy and other consulates in two days.Confirming the news Ambassador Aizaz Chaudhry said that the embassy had received the agreement for the new appointed envoy so instead of stretching his mandatory six week stay he has decided to wind up his engagements in the US to three weeks. “I will be leaving the post from May 29,” he said.
