Sindh CM tasks Education Dept to open 2,000 new schools by March

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister on Wednesday tasked Sindh Education Department to open two thousands new schools in the province by March, besides giving approval to hire new teachers for the schools.

The Chief minister presided over a meeting of Sindh Education Department. Addressing the meeting, Shah observed that a number of schools in the province lack basic facilities.  He said that there was a need to update and modernize the syllabus.

Shah ordered the concerned authorities to hire the new teachers purely on merit.

On the occasion, the chief minister told officials of the education department to open 2,000 schools in the province by March.

Secretary Education while briefing the meeting said that some 5384 schools were closed in the province out of these 4123 schools are in good condition which can be opened.

He added that due to the support extended by the chief minister during last two months some 1216 schools have been opened.

He further told the meeting that 26,000 posts were vacant in the education department.  The chief minister while imposing ban on teachers transfer, directed the concerned authorities to transfers teachers from the schools having excess numbers of teachers to those school lacking teachers.
