Sindh Govt Announces Public Holiday Today

Karachi (April 04, 2018): The Sindh government has announced a public holiday across the province  today (April 4), on account of the 39th death anniversary of Pakistan Peoples Party founder and former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

According to a notification issued by the provincial government, all offices, autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies as well as corporations and local councils under the administrative control of the Sindh government will remain closed, except for essential services.

Former premier Bhutto was executed on April 4, 1979 under the government of military dictator General Ziaul Haq following a coup.

Meanwhile, in Larkana, caravans of Bhutto supporters have been reaching from across the country ahead of the party founder’s death anniversary.The PPP has set up two camps, one in Larkana and the other in Garhi Khuda Baksh where Bhutto is buried, in order to facilitate party workers.

Camps have also been set up to provide workers with clean drinking water and roads leading to Garhi Khuda Baksh are being cleaned.

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari are expected to hold a rally in Naudero along with senior party leaders at 2pm tomorrow.

The PPP leadership will also hold a central executive committee meeting at Naudero House after the rally to discuss the current political and security situation of the country as well as the upcoming elections.
