ISLAMABAD: A brief meeting of Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) meeting hearing the presidential reference against two judges of the top judiciary was held.
It was the second meeting of SJC for hearing the presidential reference against Supreme Court Judge Justice Qazi Faiz Essa and Sindh High Court Judge Justice KK Agha.
The meeting of the five-member larger SJC bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Asif Saeed Khosa and comprising Apex Court’s Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed, Sindh High Court’s Chief Justice Ahmed Ali M Shaikh and Peshawar High Court’s Chief Justice Waqar Ahmed was held, however, the attorney general of Pakistan Anwar Mansoor Khan was absent from the meeting.
The meeting concluded after just it continued for ten minutes while the first hearing for the presidential reference had been held on June 14.
In the first hearing, the copies of references against the judges have been provided to respondents.
It is to be noted that Justice K.K. Agha and Qazi Faez are accused of possessing overseas property.
The reference against both senior judges seeks action in accordance with Article 209.
