SOUTHAMPTON: England beats Pakistan by 44 runs in first ODI

SOUTHAMPTON: Duckworth–Lewis method helped England to win over Pakistan by 44 runs in the first of five One Day International (ODI) match.

Pakistan won the toss and decided to bat first against England. Pakistan set England 260 runs target on six wickets. Captain Azhar Ali scored significant 82 runs, Sarfraz Ahmed 55 and Babar Azam made 40 runs in the match.

England’s bowler, Abdul Rashid took two wickets in the match. While Woakes, Wood, Plunkett and Root clinched one wicket each.

Rain disrupt the match again and again. England showed impressive batting and scored 194 runs in 34.3 overs on three wickets. So he was declared the victorious by 44 through Duckworth–Lewis method. England batsmen JJ Roy scored 65, JE Root 61 and Morgan scored 33 runs in the match. Umar Gul and Mohammad Nawaz took one wicket each.  JJ Roy was awarded with Man of the Match.
