Lahore (October 28, 2017): The visiting Sri Lankan security team visited Gaddafi Stadium to review security arrangements for Sunday’s T-20 match between Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

Pakistan Cricket Board’s security and vigilance head Colonel (retd) Muhammad Azam briefed the two-member team led by De Silve upon their arrival at the Gaddafi Stadium on different tiers of the security being taken for the safety and security of the foreign team. The security team was also given a demonstration of carrying the Lankan team in a bullet-proof bus.

“We briefed them on various aspects of the security of the visiting team, right from its arrival at the airport and to the hotel and from there to stadium and back,” said a spokesman of the PCB.

The security team visited the Gaddafi Stadium and went around it to see the security measures being put in place, he said.

Strict security arrangements were made during the visit of the Lankan security delegation.A delegation of the ICC is also expected to visit Gaddafi Stadium today to review the security arrangements for match day.

Sunday will mark the return of top-flight cricket to Pakistan, as Sri Lanka become the first major cricket team to visit the country since they were targeted in a deadly ambush in 2009 — with attack survivors among those returning to the scene.

The match comes after Lahore also hosted this year´s Pakistan Super League final and the Independence Cup series between Pakistan and World XI last month.
