KARACHI: SSP Malir Rao Anwar has said that he has done nothing illegal by arresting MQM leader and Opposition Leader in Sindh Assembly Khawaja Izharul Hasan, adding that he was suspended in haste, which will have negative impacts on Karachi operation. He also hinted at resigning over his suspension.
Addressing a press conference after receiving notification of his suspension, Anwar said that he didn’t care if anyone was annoyed by his actions. He dubbed Khawaja Izhar as ‘chief of target killers’, saying that there was nothing illegal in arrest of Hassan. He said that police don’t need to seek prior permission from Speaker to arrest any MPA or MNA if FIR was against him/her, nor there was any need to seek permission from IG Sindh for every arrest. He said that police was bound to inform Speaker after making arrest of the any member of the assembly.
He alleged that MQM’s London-based leaders Nadeem Nusrat and Wasay Jalial including what he said the whole mafia was active, adding that Nadeem Nusrat was giving instructions to MQM from abroad.
He further alleged that MQM links with India had been proved. “I salute Army which took action against the mafia,”he added.
