The government has decided to slash subsidy to power sector by Rs 132 billion in the next budget while different subsidies to private power distribution companies and K-Electric have also been decided.
According to sources the government has announced to slash subsidy to power sector by Rs 132 billion for the next fiscal year beginning July 1 this year.
The government had allocated Rs 118 billion subsidy for the power sector during the current fiscal year which was Rs 232 billion in the previous fiscal year.
In addition, Rs 98 billion subsidy will be allocated for private power distribution companies while Rs 20 billion subsidy will be allocated for the consumers of K-Electric.
