Supreme Court Issues 5-point Verdict in Judge Video Case

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has issued judgement comprising five points in the video case scandal case against the then Accountability Court Judge Arshad Malik.

A three-member bench of the Apex Court headed by Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa heard the case.

Chief Justice said: “Five issues emerged in the case. The first issue was that which forum will take up the case whereas the second one was how to determine the genuineness of the video”

He remarked that the third matter was how to prove this before the court in case the leaked video was real.

“Fourth issue was how will Nawaz Sharif’s sentence get affected if the video is found to be true. The fifth one was related to the conduct of Accountability Court Judge Arshad Malik”, the CJP added.

He further said that the Supreme Court’s verdict can be observed on its website where it has been clarified that whether the court’s decision will in any way affect the case of Nawaz Sharif.

“The statements issued by Mr Arshad Malik himself have also been made part of the decision”, he added.

Three citizens namely Ishtiaq Mirza, Sohail Akhter and Tariq Asad had filed a petition in the top court seeking “complete investigation” into this case.

Judge Malik, who convicted ousted premier Nawaz Sharif in the Al Azizia reference case last year, has been accused by PML-N’s Maryam and other party leaders of delivering the verdict “under pressure”.

Maryam also released videos purportedly proving her claims.

The judge, however, denied being under any pressure, making counter-allegations against Nawaz Sharif and the PML-N for bribing and threatening him.
