Take-Two is Suing Over a Grand Theft Auto Cheating Mod Again

WEB DESK: GTA Online’s publisher is still going after people who enable cheating (as well as other modding options) in the game.

Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto Online, which launched over five years ago, isn’t the studio’s newest online game and was upstaged by Red Dead Online last year.

Last week, Take-Two filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against the makers of a mod called Evolve, the latest in a years-long fight that’s gotten mixed reactions from inside the GTA Online community.

Take-Two has pushed forward with lawsuits against programs like Evolve, which cost money and are used in the game’s online mode.

Last year, it won a court order that shut down Georgia modder David Zipperer in a different case. This lawsuit seeks to uncover the identities of the people behind Evolve, permanently shut down the service, and recover at least $500,000 in damages.
