LAHORE: It has been revealed on Wednesday that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) leader Jahangir Tareen was the actual man behind the new law for Local Government System in Punjab.
Addressing media along with provincial ministers Jahangir Tareen said the new LG system will empower the public at the grassroots level, adding that the LG law would transfer real powers to the lower level.
The PTI leader also dispelled reports of changing Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and reshuffling of cabinet. “No one being replaced in Punjab cabinet,” he added.
He said that PTI govt fully committed for the creation of the South Punjab province but according to the promise all secretariats would be established first.
On the occasion, Punjab law minister Raja Basharat declared Tareen an architect of new LG system.
It must be noted that the Punjab Assembly on Tuesday passed the new local government bill amid the uproar and protest from opposition.
As per details, the Punjab Assembly on Tuesday passed two bills, The Punjab Local Government Bill 2019, The Punjab Villages Panchayats and Neighborhood Councils Bill 2019. The opposition members tear down the copies of the agenda and staged walkout from the house.
