Tayyaba Torture Case: Plea Seeking Suspension of Sentence Rejected

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court on Thursday rejected a petition seeking suspension of sentence in Tayyaba torture case by the convicted judge and his wife 

The Supreme Court’s single-member Judge Qazi Faiz Essa heard the Tayyaba torture case while during the hearing honorable Judge Qazi Faiz Essa remarked that the record regarding the case has come before the court and the sentence will not be suspended adding that either the sentence will retain or it will quash.

Consul of the accused judge Raja Khurram and his wife Maheen Zafar contended that Maheen Zafar and his husband Raja Khurram have been in jail for several months adding that wounds on Tayyaba body were accidental.

On which, Judge Qazi Faiz Essa asked that did all 22 wounds were accidental? .The judge said that Tayyaba parents were very poor and the accused were on their influence could able to change facts and poor people can be pressurized and provided with the money as well.

The honorable judge said that the medical report did prove that the wounds were accidental or intentional.

The hearing adjourned till next Monday.
