Islamabad (October 19, 2017): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry on Thursday said that ‘three big names’ of Panama Papers Leaks scandal were indicted today in a corruption reference.
Talking to media in Islamabad, Chaudhry said that NAB cases against Sharif family were moving smoothly in the accountability court.
Chaudhry said that all the money, allegedly laundered by the Sharif family to UK, were of the people of Pakistan.
He pledged that the looted money ‘laundered to offshore accounts’ would be brought to Pakistan as it belonged to the people of the country.
The PTI leader said that Maryam Nawas said that he had no assets. He added that Sharif family did not provide the trial of money used for purchase of London flats.
He said that Maryam Nawaz had been on record that she did not have any assets not only abroad but also in Pakistan.
It is to be mentioned here that earlier an accountability court hearing NAB references against the Sharif family indicted former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Capt (retd) Safder were indicted in NAB reference over their London properties.
The judge after rejecting separate applications filed by Nawaz Sharif’s counsel and counsel of Maryam and Safder for suspending the proceedings on the reference started process to indict the accused in the references.
As Nawaz Sharif was not present in the court room for being abroad, his legal representative Zafir Khan was in attendance to hear the charges framed against him.
The judge read out the charges to the accused Maryam Nawaz, Capt (Retd) Safder and Nawaz’s representatives Zafir Khan. The accused pleaded not guilty and opted to contest the charges.
It is to be mentioned here that the accused have been indicted in one of the three references filed against Sharif family.
The court will later frame charges in the two other references.
As the accused pleaded not-guilty and opted to contest the charges, the judge directed NAB to present prosecution witnesses in next date of hearing. The court while issuing notice to a NAB witness in the reference adjourned further hearing till October 26, 2017 on the case.

Regarding the two other references, wherein Nawaz Sharif and his two sons are accused, the court adjourned further proceeding till 2:00 pm.

Maryam Nawaz while talking to reporters outside the accountability court after the indictment said one day there would be accountability of the accountability process her family is going through.
“It cannot happen that injustice and atrocities continue together.” She said that accountability and court was not new for her and her family. She added that they had faced courts in 1999.
To a question about differences in Sharif family, she added that there was no difference in the family. However, she added, there might be difference of opinion which is not new or usual. ” Difference of opinion was always there and may be there and in future too,” she commented.
