KARACHI: An Anti-terrorism court on Saturday allowed PPP leader and former Petroleum Minister Dr. Asim Hussain to go abroad for two weeks for treatment.
The ATC heard an application filed by Dr Asim seeking to remove his name from Exit Control List (ECL) so that he could proceed to abroad for treatment.
Asim’s counsel took the plea that his client had serious issues of kidneys and back ache, adding that facilities for his treatment are not available in Pakistan and he needs to go abroad .
The counsel pleaded the court to order removal of his name from ECL and allowed him to go abroad for treatment.
The counsel also submitted report of medical broad recommending his treatment abroad. After hearing arguments of both sides, the court allowed Asim to proceed abroad for treatment for two weeks against furnishing surety of Rs2 million.
Dr Asim is being tried in cases relating to corruptions and treating terrorists at his hospital. He was released over a week ago by Sindh High court on bail in the cases.
