WASHINGTON: United States President Donald Trump announced to move the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem on Wednesday.
While addressing a joint press conference along with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump said, “So I am looking at two states and one state. And I like the one that both parties like. I’m very happy with the one that both parties like.”
He added, “I can live with either one. I thought for a while that two states looked like it may be the easier of the two.” Trump said that if Israel and the Palestinians are happy, he is happy with the one they like the best.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on the occasion that there were two conditions for the independent Palestinian state and peace in the region.”First the Palestinians must recognise the Jewish state. “Second, in any peace agreement, Israel must retain the overriding security control over the entire area west of the Jordan River.”
Trump said that they will compromise on Jewish settlements with Israeli PM.
