Trump’s Policy: NSC Meeting Today to Work Out Strategy

Islamabad (August 30, 2017): The National Security Committee will meet today to work out Pakistan’s strategy over US new policy on Afghanistan and South Asia.

The meeting of the Committee will be chaired by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.

The meeting will also be attended by top military leadership including chiefs of all three forces, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and intelligence chiefs.Federal Minister Interior Ahsan Iqbal, Foreign Minister Khwaja Asif, Defence Minister Khurram Dastgir, Advisor to PM on National Security Lt. Gen (retd) Nasir Janjua and others will attend the meeting, which will devise Pakistan policy over the US’s President allegations against Pakistan.This is second meeting of the top military and civilian leadership following Trump speech, as soon after the unveiling of new US policy the committee had already met and unanimously rejected the allegations leveled against Pakistan by the US President.

Yesterday, the prime minister also chaired the federal cabinet meeting over the issue.During last week meeting of the NSC, it was decided to contact other friendly countries and take all stakeholders into confidence regarding Pakistan’s reservations over the new US policy.
