Islamabad (September 14, 2018): Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Friday said Turkey and Pakistan want the best solution for the Kashmir issue.
“Turkey stands by Pakistan during its tough times,” Qureshi said while addressing a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart, Mevlut Cavusoglu, at the Foreign Office.

“Turkey supported Pakistan against Financial Action Task Force (FATF)’s decision to place it on grey list and wants the best solution for the Kashmir issue,” he added.
Further, the Pakistani foreign minister said, “The beauty of the relations between Pakistan and Turkey is that they are not restricted to a government level.”
A meeting of Pakistan and Turkey’s joint working group will be called soon, he shared.Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said the meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss the progress on Free Trade Agreement.
He said it has been agreed to revive the process of talks on FTA and take it to logical conclusion at the earliest.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi pointed out that a high level strategic council exists between the two countries which provides mechanism to ensure implementation on the already signed projects.
In his remarks on the occasion, the Turkish Foreign Minister said Pakistan is our second home.Describing talks with Shah Mahmood Qureshi as fruitful, he said we have agreed to further strengthen our relations. He said his country will encourage the Turkish companies to invest in different sectors in Pakistan.
The Turkish Foreign Minister said we also desire to further deepen our defense relations.
He said our defense industries have developed tremendously over a period of time and we have expertise in different areas and we can greatly benefit from each other’s experiences.
The Turkish Foreign Minister said that his country desires resolution of Kashmir dispute through dialogue between Pakistan and India and in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations.The foreign minister said his Turkish counterpart has accepted his invitation to participate in the meeting of Kashmir Contact Group to be held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session. He thanked unambiguous stance of Turkey on Kashmir and its support to Pakistan at other international forums.
Speaking on the occasion, the Turkish foreign minister thanked Qureshi for inviting him to the country and said, “I congratulate Prime Minster Imran Khan for assuming office and will thank him as well.”
“Governments change but real friendships remain,” he added. “We will work towards maintaining this friendship.”
Further, he said, “Qureshi and I discussed several topics of common interest.”
Earlier, both the sides discussed the entire gamut of bilateral relations.
Pakistani side was led by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi while the Turkish side by its Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.The two sides discussed ways and means to further promote economic and trade relations.
Both countries have agreed to further bolster their trade, economic, investment and defense relations.
The understanding came during delegation level talks between both the countries in Islamabad today in which Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi represented Pakistani side while the Turkish side by its Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.
Earlier, Turkish FM was warmly welcomed at the Airport.
According to a statement issued by the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Cavusoglu will meet with Prime Minister Imran Khan and President Arif Alvi during his visit.“Relations between Turkey and Pakistan, talks over regional and international development will be discussed in the meeting,” the statement added.
Moreover, the Turkish FM is also expected to meet other top leaders during the visit.
Earlier on September 09, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on called on Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad at Prime Minister House.
During the meeting issue pertaining to the mutual understanding came under discussion.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Masood Khalid were also present on the occasion.
On September 08, the Chinese delegation led by Foreign Minister Mr Wang Yi met army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and discussed matters relating to regional security and bilateral cooperation.
The Chinese Foreign Minister said that Pakistan-China relationship is based on the convergence of views and mutual respect.
Appreciating professionalism of Pakistan Army, Foreign Minister said that world should acknowledge Pakistan’s efforts towards regional peace and stability.He appreciated security provided to CPEC and said that China believes in inclusive prosperity.
The army chief thanked the foreign minister for his visit and continued Chinese support to Pakistan.
He said that Pakistan has suffered from global contestation but “we are poised to claim our rightful place in the comity of nations through the commitment to peace and stability both within and without.”
Chinese Ambassador in Pakistan Mr Yao Jing was part of the delegation.
