Turkish President Erdogan Visits Azerbaijan

Ankara (July 11, 2018): President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan arrived in Azerbaijan on his first overseas trip after making an oath of office to become the Republic of Turkey’s President.

According to International news agency, Erdoğan met with his Azeri counterpart İlham Aliyev while delegations from the two countries also gathered to discuss bilateral ties.

After reaching Azerbaijan, he made a statement to journalists in which he said that we are seriously interested in the trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline Project (TANAP) which is a strategic project. The steps taken in Eskişehir were significant.Erdoğan and Aliyev inaugurated the TANAP project on June 12 with a ceremony in Eskişehir. He said that the investment Azerbaijan undertakes in Aliağa is very important. This fall, we will have the opportunity to further develop this investment.

Previously, swearing-in ceremony of Turkish President was held at July 09, in which Presidents of 22 countries including Mamnoon Hussain, President of Pakistan, were present.

On June 24, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan won a new mandate in presidential elections in the first round of voting by winning more than half of the votes.
