Two Envoys Nominated in Illegal Extradition of Foreign Convicts to Pakistan  

Islamabad (July 19, 2017): Federal Investigation Agency has nominated two Pakistani ambassadors in a case regarding illegal extradition of foreign convicts to Pakistan.

According to the details, In February this year, Ibrahim Koko, a citizen of Myanmar serving time in a Thai jail for drug-related offences, was extradited from Bangkok to Islamabad allegedly with the help of a Pakistani diplomat who passed him off as a Pakistani citizen.

Ibrahim Koko had been issued a Pakistani passport by the country’s foreign affairs ministry in Thailand on the basis of a fake domicile purportedly issued from Khushab before he was brought to Pakistan even though the interior ministry had refused to accept him.

FIA nominated Pakistani ambassadors to Thailand and South Africa in the illegal extradition of foreign convicts to Pakistan case. Sources said that FIA interrogate Doctor Sohail, ambassador to South Africa and Ata ul Momin Shahid, acting ambassador to Thailand. Both the ambassadors passed Ibrahim Koko, a citizen of Myanmar off as a Pakistani citizen, despite interior minister had informed them about Ibrahim Koko.

The Myanmar drug peddler Ibrahim Koko was facing 35 years imprisonment in Thailand over drug smuggling. Both the ambassadors got pre-arrest bail and appeared before the FIA.
