Cardiff (July 19, 2017): A man has died after a dilapidated church collapsed in Cardiff on Tuesday.
Firefighters, rescue dogs and a drone had been searching for the man in the wreckage of the derelict church in Splott, which collapsed at about 14:50 BST.
Two people escaped from the building – which was being demolished – and were treated for minor injuries. South Wales Fire and Rescue Service workers are trying to recover the body.
Gareth Davies, from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, said: “A gentleman was sadly found trapped within the collapsed structure and has tragically lost their life.
Specialist teams have been searching the rubble, trains between Cardiff and Newport have been delayed and roads in the area are closed off.
