UN: Russia vetoes ceasefire resolution on Aleppo

NEW YORK: Russian vetoed a United Nations Security Council resolution seeking seven-day ceasefire in the Syrian city of Aleppo.

While China and Venezuela backed Russia in the UN. While Angola did not participated in the voting. According to American media, Russia vetoed the ceasefire resolution sixth times.

The resolution was tabled in the United Nations by Egypt, New Zealand and Spain. Russian permanent representative to the United Nations,  Vitaly Churkin said that Egypt, New Zealand and Spain were shamelessly pressured by the trio of permanent Western member. He said Moscow regards such actions were provocative and it will undermine the peace efforts of the co-chairs of the Syria Support Group (Russia and the US).
