Web Desk (November 23,2018): United Nations (UN) Special Envoy Martin Griffiths has arrived in Yemen to pursue peace talks for resolving the Yemen conflict.
According to UN sources, his visit is aimed at portraying a message to the Houthi rebels and the government forces to halt fighting and start meaningful negotiations.
Meanwhile, the United Nations has expressed willingness to play a supervisory role in managing Yemen’s Red Sea port of Hodeidah.
UN Spokesman Rheal LeBlanc told reporters in Geneva that Hodeidah is an entry point for about 80 per cent of Yemen’s food imports and urgently needed humanitarian aid.
