Washington (June 23, 2018): The US Department of Foreign Affairs confirms that Pakistan Foreign Affairs has contacted regarding Aafia Siddiqui, who was allegedly abused in the US prison.
In a statement issued in Washington, the spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry said that he has received an official message from Pakistan regarding abuse allegations on Dr. Aafia Siddiqui.
The spokesperson said that international human rights are observed with all the convicted prisoners, and all the prisoners are treated according to the US Constitution and the law.Also, the news regarding death of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui in the US jail were doing the rounds on social media last month, but the rumors were turned down after the meeting of Pakistani consulate general in Texas, Aisha Farooqui to Dr. Aafia Siddiqui in jail.
Two days ago, Foreign Affairs spokesman Dr. Mohammad Faisal told during a weekly briefing that the matter of alleged abuse with Dr. Aafia Siddiqui is being raised with authorities demanding an investigation.Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, is a scientist who is accused of attacking US troops in Afghanistan, and in March 2003, after arrest of the Khalid Sheikh Muhammad, leader of terrorist organization Al Qaeda and mastermind of ‘9-11’, Aafia Siddiqui along with her three children went missing from Karachi.
A new turn came in the case of Aafia Siddiqui’s disappearance five years later in 2008, when the US claimed of arresting her from Ghazni, an Afghan province.The documents claimed that Aafia Siddiqui had two kilograms of sodium cyanide, chemical weapons and other things, which proves that he was planning to attack on US troops.On the other hand, when Aafia Siddiqui was questioned by US military and FBI officers, she allegedly picked up a rifle and shot them, but was instead injured in the responsive shot. Later, Aafia Siddiqui was transferred to US, she was prosecuted and sentenced to 86 years imprisonment after being convicted of murder in 2010.
