WASHINGTON: The United States has acknowledged that the airstrike that it conducted on March 17 in Mosul killed more than 200 civilians.
Pentagon said yesterday that according to initial investigation the airstrike was conducted by the US-led coalition on the request of the Iraqi security forces.
The airstrike targeted the Baghdad Street in west Mosul’s area of Aghawat Jadidah neighborhood and it killed over 200 people including women and children.
The airstrike would be the deadliest civilian casualty incident by far since the U.S. military began its involvement in mid-2014.
