ISLAMABAD: A delegation of the USA Congress led by Senator Chris Van Hollen on Sunday visited the capital of Azad Jammu and Kashmir having an aim to review ground realities and people sentiments after Indian action of August 5 through abrogation of article 373.
The delegation members include US Senator Chris Van Hollen, Senator Maggie Hassan, US Chargé d’Affaires Paul W Jones and a high ranking member of the democratic party Tahir Javed.
Major General Amir briefed the delegation on the current situation of the Line of Control (LoC) during the visit while Americans also called on President and Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir wherein gross human rights violation in the hands of Indian came under discussion.
The USA delegation on the occasion said that they will urge India lifting of curfew and release of detainees and will also play a role to end atrocities on Kashmiris while President and PM of AJK stressed the USA delegation to force India on the resolution of Kashmir disputes as per the United Nations resolutions.
The delegation will also inform the world of the worst situation of occupied Kashmir.
The foreign office spokesman further added that India’s not allowing of the USA delegation to visit occupied Kashmir has unearthed its propaganda of ‘everything is ok’.
