Clinton and Trump raced through several battleground states in a last-ditch attempt to encourage their supporters to turn up at polling stations.
Clinton sought to capture more support from Latinos, African-Americans and young people. In contrast, Trump tried to rev up the disaffected middle class what he said has been sidelined by the US political establishment.
