US Embassy in Pakistan Restricts Employees Movement

Islamabad (April 10, 2018): The US Embassy in Pakistan said on Tuesday that it is “temporarily restricting the movement of US government employees” in the country due to security concerns after the killing of youth by the vehicle of US attache Col Joseph.  

Attique Baig was killed on the spot and Raheel Ahmed was seriously injured and admitted to a local hospital when, apparently, Col Joseph Emanuel jumped the traffic at the Daman-e-Koh traffic signal on Khayaban-e-Iqbal at around midday on Saturday.

The travel advisory told the embassy employees to restrict themselves within 25 miles and if anyone want to travel more than 25 miles the permission of US government essential. It also said that the travel advisory will remain in effect till May 01.امریکی سفارتخانے کی گاڑی کی ٹکر سے نوجوان جاں بحقOn the other hand US embassy has refused making any comments over the issue. The spokespersons of the embassy said that he did not want to make any comment on the issue and Pakistani foreign office should be contacted in this connection.

The US Embassy issued an official statement regarding the incident which says: “The US Embassy expresses its deep sympathy to the family of the deceased and those injured in a tragic traffic accident involving a US Embassy vehicle on April 7. Embassy officials are cooperating with local authorities who are investigating the accident.”

Meanwhile, the Foreign Office spokesman, in a statement, said: “The Foreign Ministry is closely following investigation into the road accident involving a US diplomat which led to the tragic death of a Pakistani citizen in Islamabad.”
