US Issues Travel Warning for Israel, Jerusalem, West Bank

Washington (December 7, 2017): The Unites States State Department barred government employees and family members from traveling in Jerusalem’s Old City, Israel and the West Bank, and warned other Americans to carefully consider travel plans, citing widespread calls for demonstrations could be held on Wednesday.

The US State Department suggested their citizens to avoid any unnecessary visit to Israel, ‘Baitul Muqaddas’ , Jerusalem and West Bank by December 20.

The warning from the US Consulate in Jerusalem came as President Donald Trump informed Arab and Israeli leaders in phone calls on Tuesday that he is planning to move the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

“United States citizens should avoid areas where crowds have gathered and where there is increased police and/or military presence,” the message said.

The State Department had already warned American embassies worldwide to heighten security ahead of Trump’s announcement.
