Expired CNICs To Be Valid For Vote in Elections: NADRA

Islamabad (July 20, 2018): National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) on Friday said that Voters in possession of expired identity cards are also eligible to cast votes.

A high-level meeting of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) was held in Islamabad and was presided over by its Chairman Usman Mobeen.The meeting took decisions regarding on-time printing of computerized national identity cards and their delivery before July 25, to continue printing process 24 hours a day and opening of NADRA offices across the country.

The offices will remain open on Saturday and Sunday and even on Election Day till 02:00pm.

The meeting decided to print all CNICs including those of normal category on urgent basis in view of the upcoming elections on July 25.The participants were told that all applications for new CNICs received before July 16 are being processed expeditiously, whereas, NADRA is not confiscating the old cards of the applicants since July 16.

The authority has directed courier companies concerned to ensure the dispatch of ID cards on weekends too.
