KARACHI: Voting process has started for NA-246 by-election of Karachi that would be continued from 8:00am till 5:00pm in all polling stations.
Overall 213 polling stations were established on 55 spots including 402 booths for male voters and 367 for female voters.
Rangers had been given first-class magistrate level authorities during the by-election while one ranger personnel would be deployed inside each polling station to monitor poll process till vote count.
Top three candidates belonging to Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and eight other independent competitors are contesting for the NA-246 seat that fell vacant post resignation of Nabeel Gabol.
5200 police personnel, 150 mobile vehicles, 55 policewomen had been deployed in the area while pillion riding would be banned in Central Zone of the metropolis.
CCTV security cameras were installed first-ever in the polling history while usage of mobile phones would be prohibited inside polling stations.
