SUKKUR: Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Police killed a wanted terrorist allegedly involved in attack on the late SP Chaudhry Aslam’s house and murder of Amjad Sabri in an encounter in Sukkur late Sunday night.
According to SP CTD Sukkur Irfan Sammo, the terrorist identified as Kamran Bhatti and his accomplices had entered Sindh from Balochistan.
He said that a CTD team was carrying out snap checking following the information that terrorists have entered the province from Balochistan. When the team signaled a motorcyclist to stop, instead of stopping the riders opened fire on the police party, which led to an encounter. As a result, a terrorist was killed while two of his accomplices managed to flee.
Heavy arms were recovered from the slain terrorist while the area was cordoned off and search operation is going on to arrest his accomplices.
Bhatti is said to be a leading member of banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and was wanted in at least 20 high-profile cases.
On the other hand, CTD Punjab arrested three alleged terrorists of a banned outfit in an action in Multan. Illegal arms and hate literature was also recovered from the arrested accused.
