Wealth Generated Through Corruption Must Be Return Back Even After Death: CJ

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court of Pakistan On Monday ordered wife of late DSP Akhtar Kiyani to pay a sum of Rs 30 million on her appeal against the high court in the case pertaining to corruption and illegal use of power.

It is pertinent to mention here that the late DSP and his wife awarded 10 years and five years prison respectively and imposed Rs 30 million fine in the case of corruption and illegal use of power by the trial court which was also retained by the high court.

A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice SC Asif Saeed Khossa heard the appeal of the wife of the late DSP Akhtar Kiyani against the high court verdict.

Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa remarked during the course of the hearing that one must have to pay amount earned through corruption even after death.

The CJ said that the plot was purchased on a price of Rs 20.5 million 25 years ago which will be worth of Rs 2.5 billion now and declared that fine of Rs 30 million given in 2003 is much less as per today’s time adding that the fined amount can be raised but it cannot be slashed.
