PPP Will Never Hurt Democracy, National Interests: Shah

Islamabad (August 15, 2018): Former opposition leader in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah said that his party will fully play the role of the opposition but will not create any hurdle in the legislation aimed at the welfare of people and national interests.

While addressing parliament after speaker national assembly speech, Khursheed Shah congratulated Asad Qaiser over his election as the new speaker. He said this parliament is sovereign and we will continue to work for its sanctity.

“And under Bilawal’s leadership, we will fully play the role of the opposition. It is our constitutional and legal right,” he said

“And once again, we pray that the Parliament completes its five-year term in a democratic manner.”

Khurshid Shah mentioned that this parliament is sovereign and we will continue to work for its sanctity at any cost.Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s (PTI) Asad Qaiser on Wednesday sworn in as the 21st Speaker for the National Assembly amid opposition ruckus.

Qaiser bagged 176 votes while Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Syed Khurshid Shah received 146 in the secret balloting process. A total of 330 votes were cast among which eight were rejected.

Outgoing speaker Ayaz Sadiq administered oath to new speaker, who will supervise the election of the deputy speaker for the Lower House of Parliament.
