WEB DESK: World Civil Defence Day is being observed today (March 01). The sole purpose of observing the day is to raise awareness about the significance of civil defence organizations in unfortunates events such as accidents or disasters.
Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, expressing his views on the day, said the civil defence department is performing a great work of safety of people during peace and war.
World Civil Defence Day, created by the decision of the ICDO General Assembly in 1990, is celebrated every year on the 1st of March. This Day commemorates the entry into force of the ICDO Constitution as an intergovernmental organisation in 1972. It is observed for bringing to the attention of the world public the vital importance of Civil Protection and of raising awareness of the preparedness for, and prevention and self-protection measures in high times.
