World Cup Opener: England Set 312-run Target for SA

LONDON: With the help of century runs partnership by the Roy and captain Morgan and later Ben Strokes brilliant come back helped England post 311 for nine on the board in the World Cup opener on Thursday at Oval in London.  

England lost early wicket when opener Bairstow became the prey of Imran Tahir without any score, however, later captain Morgan, 57, Root 51 and Roy 54 helped the team to move a big total.

Later, Ben Stokes with sensible batting helped the team to post 311 after losing nine wickets. Ben made 89 on 79 balls with seven fours.

Earlier, South Africa won the toss and elected to bowl first against England in the ICC Cricket World Cup opener at The Oval on Thursday.
