World leaders slam Trump over travel ban on Muslims   

WASHINGTON: World leaders lashed out at United States President Donald Trump over imposing travel ban on citizens from seven Muslim countries.

The world leaders termed the executive orders by the US as illegal, insulting and recriminatory. British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson termed the ban as devise and wrong. London Mayor Sadiq Khan said the move was shameful and cruel.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said,” The necessary and decisive fight against terrorism in no way justifies a general suspicion against people of certain beliefs, in this case people of the Muslim faith or from a certain origin. She said that these action according to her beliefs were against the core idea of international aid for refugees and international cooperation.

French Foreign Minister Jean Marc Ayrault said that welcoming refugees was a duty of solidarity. He said, ” terrorism does not have a nationality, discrimination is not an answer.”

Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Simsek said,” we would happily welcome global talent not allowed back into US.”

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said in his tweet,” To those fleeing persecution, terror and war, Canadians will welcome you, regardless of your faith. Diversity is our strength.”

While Iranian Foreign Affairs Ministry termed the Trump’s immigration orders as insulting and a gift to extremists.
