Youm-e-Ali Being Observed Across The Country

Web Desk (June 06, 2018): The stringent security arrangements have been made across the country on Youm-e-Ali to avoid any untoward incident.

The day is observed every year on 21st of Ramazan with religious fervour and reverence amid tight security. Majalis and procession are also held to pay homage to the fourth caliph of Muslims.

Authorities in Karachi have finalised security plan for Yaum-e-Ali, the martyrdom anniversary of Hazrat Ali (RA). According to a security plan, apart from the area wise police deployment, more than  5,572 police officials and personnel would perform security duties to the central procession while 72 police mobile vans, 65 motorcycle squads, seven armoured personnel carriers (APCs) are also be on duty.

The main procession will be taken out from Nishter Park and will reach its destination at Hussainian Iranian Kharadar while passing through its designated routes.

For the main procession, snipers are deployed on the rooftop along the route. At the central gathering, watchtowers, and special control room would be set up. The bomb disposal squad would perform the technical sweeping on the occasion.

On the other hand, The Sindh Home Department has imposed a ban on pillion riding in Karachi and Hyderabad on the 21st of Ramadan today.

In its letter, the home department stated that the decision was taken after additional inspector generals (AIGs) of Karachi and Hyderabad requested for the ban in the light of security concerns.According to the notification, the ban will be for one day on June 6, 2018. It took effect at 12 am on Wednesday and will last until midnight on Thursday.

The ban will not be applicable to women, children under 12, senior citizens, journalists, personnel of law enforcement agencies, security agencies in uniform and employees of essential services.

Those found violating the ban will face legal action by law enforcement agencies under section 188 of Pakistan Penal Code.
