Youth Killed In Accident: Police Decides To Arrest US Official

Islamabad (April 09, 2018): Police has decided to arrest the United States Defence Attache Colonel Joseph and has also written a letter to the interior ministry to put his name on ECL.

According to details, the federal capital police have asked the interior ministry to put the name of US Defence and Air Attaché Colonel Joseph Emanuel on the Exit Control List.

In a letter written to the interior ministry, the police stated they have received information from reliable sources that Emanuel would leave the country soon.

Since investigation into the accident involving the US defence attaché in Islamabad was under way, the police did not want him to leave Pakistan.In a statement issued earlier, Islamabad police said they could not arrest Emanuel as the Vienna convention provided him immunity.

A case has been filed against the US defence attaché after a vehicle he was driving ran a red light and hit a motorbike, killing a young man and injuring another in Islamabad.

A man was killed and two others sustained injuries when the United States military attache’s car collided with a motorcycle in the federal capital on Saturday. Colonel Joseph was driving the car when the ill-fated incident took place. The diplomat was released by police after brief detention.Earlier on Sunday, the Foreign Office on Sunday summoned American Ambassador to Pakistan David Hale to lodge a formal protest against the incident.

According to a statement, the Foreign Ministry said that “justice will take its course” in accordance with local and international laws.

It said Hale expressed his sympathy and sadness over the loss of life and assured cooperation in the investigation.
