KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday commuted the death sentences of all convicts in Zahra Shahid Murder case into life-long imprisonment.
An Anti-Terrorism court’s had previously announced death sentences of the criminals on murder charges.
On 18 May 2013, Zahra Shahid Hussain was shot outside her house in the upscale Defence Housing Authority neighbourhood in Karachi.
She was a Pakistani activist-politician and senior leader Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Zahra was serving as a member of PTI’s central executive committee when she was assassinated.
According to police, Hussain was ambushed by two people on a motorcycle.
Her murder took place on the eve of a highly contested partial rerun of the general election.
