Washington(October 13, 2018): FACEBOOK has admitted hackers got hold of personal data from 29 million accounts in a massive security breach.
Another 40 million accounts were also at risk in the biggest ever Facebook breach.
At the time Facebook took the unprecedented step of logging out the 90 million affected users. Today the social media giant said hackers had successfully accessed data from 29 million accounts.
This includes name and contact details, including email addresses and phone numbers.
“Of the 50 million people whose access tokens we believed were affected, about 30 million actually had their tokens stolen.”“For 15 million people, attackers accessed two sets of information – name and contact details (phone number, email, or both, depending on what people had on their profiles).
In the coming days, Facebook has promised to send a message to the 30 million users affected.
