Energy Minister decide a big relief to consumers in electricity bill across the country.

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Energy, Sardaar Awais Khan Leghari announced a significant decrease in electricity bill for the month of April.

Federal Minister for Energy Sardar Awais Khan Laghari announced a decrease of Rs 3.82 per unit on electricity bills for April. This reduction is attributed to adjustments made in both quarterly adjustments and fuel prices.

The minister explained that the fuel price adjustment for April has been reduced to Rs 4.92 per unit, down from Rs 7.6 per unit in the previous month. This translates to a decrease of Rs 2.14 per unit in fuel costs. Additionally, the first quarter adjustment has also been lowered, resulting in a further reduction of Rs 1.68 per unit.

“The Prime Minister has directed that the people should be protected from pressure,” Leghari stated, highlighting the government’s commitment to easing the burden on consumers.

Mr Leghari emphasized that such adjustments are vital in determining the cost of power generation each month, thus directly impacting consumers’ electricity bills.

He further pointed out that NEPRA, the regulatory authority, plays a crucial role in determining the reference tariff for the entire year, setting the framework for subsequent adjustments.

The minister affirmed that NEPRA regularly reviews and determines fuel price adjustments to ensure transparency and fairness in electricity billing.
